Congratulations to DBI designers Michael Boyer, Jill Albers, and Rachel Williams-Clark, whose recent design of the new headquarters for the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board) in Washington, DC won an IIDA 2015 Design Award!  Challenged by CFP Board to design a space that elevated the organization’s image above the traditional style of financial institutions, DBI’s team created a “sexy and unique” space that would enhance collaboration and communication between internal departments while providing a stimulating backdrop.  A particularly dazzling element of the project is the one-of-a-kind feature wall, composed of 42,000 pin-mounted pennies on dowels arranged at different depths.  The IIDA presented the team with a Citation Award for the project’s penny wall, which serves as the backdrop for the main reception desk and travels along the staircase.

In addition to DBI, project team members included Cresa (Project Management); Coakley Williams (General Contractor); Price Modern (Furniture); Loring Engineering; Hotbed (AV/IT); Art Matters (Art); Signs Unlimited (Signage); and Eric Taylor Photography.

Of the new space, CFP Board’s CEO Kevin Keller comments:  the “new office space sets the standard for a working environment that is both practical and pleasing to work in. From the clean lines of the design and layout to the open spaces and vibrant colors, our workspace emits good, positive energy. It is the perfect environment for our team to do their very best work—and for our guests to enjoy when they come here.”
